Actuator not working and a leak 1.8t k03
I did a leak test and had a huge leak where the actuator connects on the picture. I didn't remove the turbo yet but what will I need to repair it? The actuator isn't working and I have no boost or dv noise. The turbo itself is perfect it has barely any movement and spun freely.
I'll post the fix here just so if anyone has the same problems.
problems:
rattle at low rpm
no boost or very low boost - VEEEERRRRYYY SLOWWW acceleration.
metal hitting metal thunk sound at high rpm gear change
leak near wastegate lever
no dv release sound
turbo barely spinning
loud exhaust
The flapper on the wastgate was completely melted off and gone. Chunks were sitting in my catalytic converter. Even more rattling noise besides the wastgate flap.
Some causes could be:
clogged cat
old turbo
running rich/lean --- bad 02 sensors
bad maf
ecu
wastgate actuator too tight, most likely would blow a hose or connection instead though.
etc.. can go on and on.
I seen some people re-attach their flapper, but mine was just toast so I bought a used turbo and will replace it as soon as it gets here.
