trying to get at that coolant flange isn't the easiest thing ever... I've got the new one on there 2 times now with leaks after both times. hopefully when i get back in it today it won't be leaking!
I have an intermittant leak on my flange as well, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and it goes away once I drive it... I've reinstalled it at least 3 times, and tried to retorque it a few as well.... Some form of sealant will probably need to be used.

Oh yeah, +1 on a floor jack and jack stands!!!

yea i know it was just something quick - i was changing the axles on the s4 at the same time so the 1 real jack and 2 jack stands were under that.

Anyways -

I reinstalled it a total of 3 times yesterday and twice today - the second time today I decided to use the blue RTV. i let it sit and dry for almost 2 hours. Still leaking under the bottom bolt that connects the flange to the engine. I'm about to give up and just call someone

Doesn't hurt to check...

You are using a gasket right?

And its not damaged?

This side shown is the side that will attach to the engine, make sure that the gasket is installed and not torn... this is a leak area.
Is that where yours is leaking?

Tighten them down a little bit at a time so the flange is not crocked installed.
Is your flange straight?

There can't be too many reasons why it would leak. Maybe its a defective flange.

that is exactly where mine is leaking... it's pouring all day today and has been. Maybe tomorrow i'll take a ride down to NAPA and get a new flange and gaskets and try that out such a disappointment.
