Default after fitting K&N filter can maf be placed on stock intake tube?

i have a 2001 a4 1.8T, i have a k&n cone filter and would rather not do the air box mod due to where i live and the rainy/nasty weather. If i outfit the stock intake tube with the filter will i have any problems retrofitting the maf sensor into the tube as far as the computer goes. and what shall i do with the dv. im guessing the dv is the other little tube that runs into stock air box (correct me if im wrong). if this is possible what will i need and will it be worth it to make my lady of joy sound a little meaner?

There's plenty of DIY's floating around about this, a quick search should help. That second tube you're talking about is for the SAI pump.

Yup - get a small breather cone filter for the SAP tube so you can protect it from crap getting down inside.

so all done, ill do a little follow up as the hundreth person to do so. the growl and whistle from the turbo spooling makes me wanna mash on the gas pedal constantly, it sounds great. The little crush from the bov is awesome too, its not to flashy (i hate loud bovs) but just enough to let you know its doing its job. oil temp is substantially lower. the car didnt take anytime to re-adjust as most people say it does, right after the install. and i didnt put the heat sheild back on which makes me nervous. I know its good measures but is it a necessity? any chance of melting the maf sensor or electrical running close to the intake? after all, we all know how fast thin tin heats up, even if it is claimed a "heat shield." anyhow once agian, thank you for the help (this is the second time you two have helped me in the past two days) cant wait to chip this baby. big ups audi community.
