Default Aftermarket HID help with Wattage

Hey all,

Since I have OEM Xenons, I never had a chance of messing with aftermarket HID's.

However, my friend is looking to install an aftermarket kit (DDM Tuning) and was thinking of getting the 55W kit.

The question is, does anyone have this kit? Do you need to run a separate relay for the 55 watts kit to prevent shortage of power?

Thanks in advance everyone!

After getting an awful kit from vvme.com that doesnt work properly, im tempted ot try one of their kits out. They are around the same price also.

I noticed lltek's kit has in in-line filter for things that are commonly associated with upgrading like the bulb flicker, so im tempted to spend the $333 for a good kit.

Getting a bad hid kit is nothing but headaches, especially since now im trying to return and get a refund from vvme.com, but its like talking spanish to a chinese person.

Awful.

I heard DDM carries better quality kits than VVME and they are a local (US) company. Many people with VVME kit complained about breaking down once they have used the kit for over a year.

However, many people would disagree with that, as some still say VVME is a great kit for the price.

Good luck on returning your it though. Hope they won't give you a hard time.

ive heard of a harness that supplies the kit with direct power from the battery to prevent under power issues, i believe that ddm offers this kit, make sure to call and ask them before you purchase. good luck.

^Thanks!

My friend tried contacting them via email with no response. Apparently they are known with slow customer service.

what would a relay do for shortage of power? the ballasts are a step up transformer, needed to supply the high voltage in order to run the HID's.
