Alice's Progress
Bought a Concert II head unit, plan to have it in within a couple days. Since I'm redoing my system, I want an upgraded head unit. I know, blah blah blah, waste of time. Well I've done my research, I got one out of a A6/TT because the one from the TT is too big. Also got the wiring harnesses so that it'll be easy...er. I know how to wire it so that it'll come on with the lights. So my last question is, how do I wire it to control it with VCDS?
WENT TO THE Pick 'n' Pull today, got the center cup holders out of an '01. I went to take my center console apart to find this...

At this point I'm quite confused, so I did a little looking around, turns out it's for a telephone jack! ...which perfectly explains the mic on the A-Pillar. Anywho... is there any way to get that plastic block out of the way so that I can install the upholders, and not ruin the jack in case I want to do something with it later?

You might be able to pop the socket free from the base. However I really wouldn't worry about yanking it out. It's hard for me to imagine a good use for it, everything is bluetooth these days.
That's true, but hey, you never know. So is there any way I could tap into that mic on the a pillar if I were to ever get that GROM bluetooth unit? I want bluetooth, but you guys know I'm really OCD on how it looks, I don't want an aftermarket mic hanging around!
Got a new cruise pump when I got my FANTASTIC cup holders the other day, and installed it today. I can feel a little more vacuum in the pedal now, but I guess I'm finally convinced I have a leak somewhere. Yay.
Had another successful day, I've continued Base Drifter's trend of buying parts that don't fit my car. I picked up '01 grab handles, because they "glide" up and don't snap up like the old ones. I figured they'd be a direct fit, but the molding where it mounts is a little different, oh well, I went to my headliner with a knife and cut some of the foam out. They fit like a charm now
I figured I'm replacing my headliner soon anyways, why not?? Also got '01 air vents. These light up in the dark!

... as soon as I hook them up. Also picked up some front footwell lights, didn't think I needed the whole plastic pieces they attach to, just cut out a rectangle and snap 'em in!

Let's see...what else? Oh yeah. Finally managed to dismantle the rear c-pillars in a 96-97 without completely destroying them. I did crack them, however, but it doesn't really matter because I plan on covering them with headliner material when I do so, to match the A-pillars.

The A4 I got them out of was really weird, it had a strange brown interior, with like open pore wood trim, and different wheels. Any thoughts?

Lmao... I think you'd know, I was VERY loud about it. And I've always wondered, is out wood trim real or fake?
Real. Its a very thin veneer, but it is real. Since mine is kinda open grain, I even put a little teak oil on it to keep it looking good.
