Default Alternator

I am still waiting for my Bently manual to come in.

I want to send my Alternator out for Rebuilt. I can't figure out how to take out the lower Bolt. The Fan Clutch infront of it is a problem. Is there a easy way to take the alternator out.

Well, I don't know if I should curse the Audi Engineers or the Previous Mechanics for Stripping Bolt Number 3. Apparantly there is a 8mm Hex Bolt in the back that I am suppost to lock in place and use a 45mm special tool in the front to take the clutch off. I ended up using a dremel to cut the lower Alternator bolt off. At least I got the Alternator off and Now I have to figure out how to take off the Fan Clutch.

There's a bolt on the back side that threads forward through the fan mount and into the clutch (Allen bolt if I recall). Take that out and the fan comes off and then you can get the lower alternator bolt out.

Thats the Hex Bolt that appears to be stripped. I have to go to work and make me a 45mm tool. My tools that I have cant grip it very well.

Do you know the tool part# by any chance. 45mm one.

There's special sockets made for removing stripped/rounded/possessed bolts, they just cut into the head of the bolt and comes out, then you need a new bolt lol
