Default Any Ideas?

Been looking around for a b6 or newer s4 and was wondering what you all thought our cars are getting trade in wise. Anybody traded theirs in lately?

What do you all think I should get?

2000 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro Manual Silver Cold Weather Package/Premium Package
154K miles
New Clutch
New Tires
I would give it a 9/10 overall
No accidents
Clean Carfax, Clean Title

KBB says 5500-5800 for good, excellent trade in respectively, but that seemed awfully optimistic.

I think it's better to sell the car privately instead of trading it in.

You won't be getting the KBB value for it when it comes to trade in.

Good luck.

yea...it seems that the kbb "trade in" value ends up being the actual resale value where as the actual trade in ends up being much less than the kbb "trade in" value. I haven't actually asked a dealer what they'd give yet. Any ideas?

I honestly have no idea what dealer would give you. Maybe someone with that experience will have to pitch in.

I have heard from some people that it's better to sell the car to a dealer first (have them give you a price and pay you). After everything with that is settled, then it's time for you to look for the car you want.

I heard this scenario will work better as they will not play with the calculations of the trade in/car you're getting.

However, you will still be getting less than KBB value though.

If you came in I would give you about 1k less then trade in probably. At the same time I would be cutting all my profit off of the car I am selling you and hoping to get it back out of the one you trade in. We like to get profit on both but w/ the economy we just want to sell the damn car. I sold a car 2 days ago for only 150 bux profit...

I didn't look up trade in value... I just looked at what there selling for at auction and it says the average for one w/ 143k miles is $2500. I work at a private used car dealership/ mechanic shop. Right now I am working on cars more then selling them as nobody wants to ******* buy them lol. If you came in I would probably offer you 2k for the car... (then keep it and sell mine LOL) sorry but thats how a dealership works they can't afford to lose money.

Bring Vaseline. Bend over and grab your ankles.

These cars have a high used car value, but KBB is certainly not the "market" value. KBB is very generous. As far as trade in, most dealers don't want used cars they can't certify and seeing as B5 was last made in 2001, no dealer can certify it. There's always "specialty" houses, but buyers must be educated. It's best off to sell privately, especially if you have a good service history and do not need to dump the car immediately.
