Default anyone find it weird that...

Anyone find it weird that when I reinstalled my Symphony I head unit, it didn't require me to enter the code? I just plugged it back in and it worked normally.

Yeah, some just dont ask for codes, mine never did (wish I woulda knew that before I paid the dealer for the code). I heard someone say once that the ones that dont ask for a code will eventually over a longer period of time.. but mine never has.

If your car has the CAN-BUS system (pre facelifts don't have it, though facelifts may have it like newer audis) anyways the can-bus system (the car) recognizes the radio and doesn't ask for a code but if you were to put it in another car it would probably ask for the code.

i bought mine from an ebay store, and it apparently came out of a 99 tt, and it never asked for a code when i put it in, and will even work if the car is off. i just figured it was broken in a good way

I always thought it was loss of power that triggered it, and I have a pre-99, so no CAN, and it doesnt ask for the code.

It's not broken, mine does the same thing. The manual mentions it I believe.

mine's a 2001, so that's probably the reason.
