Default Beginning Mods for a newbie?

Just got a 1997 1.8 Quattro. Just wondering whats the best mods, performance and visual, to start off with? Because of the fact that im still paying off for the car, i cant be spending too much yet =(. Suggestions?

Before modding, make sure everything is fresh and new first. Timing belt, associated timing belt parts, spark plugs, full synthetic oil and a good oil filter. All that aside, my favorite mod I like to start out with on a car is always the suspension. A nice spring/shock combo is always a good start. Bilstein sport or Koni are good to use with lowering springs.

Yeah those are all new. I bought it from a guy who owns a foreign car repair shop, he replaced it all and put a engine with 49k miles in it =]. Ok thanks !

Tune it and be done, IMO. Perhaps the winter tire mod, or the PROPER HID mod.

HIDs, A8 brake upgrade with good pads, and to get a few free mods, debadge it, do the one-touch-up rear window mod, and airbox mod. Take a look at www.audidiy.com, www.audiworld.com, and the DIY forum here for a lot of ideas.
