Default Biggest Turbo On Stock Location

Hey people,

I've being trying to find a specific thread but can't but what is the biggest turbo that can fit in the stock location (bottom) on Audi A4 1999 1.8TQM. I don't want to get a top mount manifold as here in Australia this is all a defect, yes you can get away with it but if you are pulled over and they see a massive turbo their on the top, it will cause problems. Thanks

Are you looking to build a street car or a laggy-as-**** dyno queen? It's about area under the curve, not height of the peak if its gonna be a street car...

@meloman, I'm aware of that info and have been reading that a lot lately but still doesn't answer question unfortunately.

@ImTheDevil, my goals are 300-400hp, This is more than enough, plan is for a t3/t4 but this probably won't fit on the stock manifold position (yes will buy new manifold) but just want to keep it in the stock turbo location. A sensible street car.

RAI and ATP make manifolds in 3 bolt and T3/T4 flanged designs that will keep the turbo in a more-or-less stock looking location. You will need to buy or fabricate a new down pipe because the turbine housing exhaust flange will be different but to an untrained eye it would look stock.

Best option is to find an Apr t25 manifold cause it bolts the turbo under the mani. If you want you stick with a k03 flange you can run any elim turbo up to a 3071 (or is it 76?)

I would go with a 2871r elim. I have it and for a 300-400chp street setup and keeping the stock location I dont think you can beat it.

If you want to talk about turbos for any type of manifold feel free to email me or call me. You can find a good amount of different turbos here Ringer Racing.

I even did a HTA2868r setup in a ATP elim housing which is the turbo setup Bische on Audizine is running on his B6 A4 1.8t in Sweden. This same thing can be done with any of the Comp Turbos which have the same bolt pattern as the Garrett turbos.
