any coating on the surface would be shaved off after a few miles so what would be the point?

The only way that they would hold the color would be if the material the rotors were made of was black - they can't inject the color into the metal or anything. like you said, a trailer queen could pull it off but not a driven car.

i believe that EBC makes black rotors.

http://www.ebcbrakes.com/rotorinfo.html

but as other people have said, and as EBC says the black coating does wear off.

USR discs as they come in the box.

After a few hours of service, (black coating wears off contact area)

^From the EBC website. Obviously, not for real world use.

well i guess if you really wanted to have black rotors you could go to either audi or porsche and request that they sell you a carbon ceramic set of rotors. those would fit your dark rotor / dark wheel set up that ur looking for.

Yes... but they require the special monobloc Brembo calipers, special compound pads, and will need to be heavily adapted to an A4. Plus, the setup is an $8000 option from the factory, which means over the parts counter will be in excess of $10,000.

You could just carry one of these and apply when parked
