blown motor need help

Default blown motor need help

i have 2000 b5 with a blown motor i found another motor but the car that it is from had a automatic transmission i have a manual transmission. will the engine match up with my transmission? or will i need an adapter? or is it not even possible?

They will not match up easily. The manual engine has provisions for the pilot bearing, while the automatic one does not (the difference is in the crank). The crank can be machined to accept the pilot bearing, though.

I think the last time this topic came up, it was decided that an aftermarket pilot bearing of the appropriate size could be used.

ne idea were i could acquire one of these bearings or the size? can i use the crank of my engine? or do i need the bearing

Picture of the bearing he used as a pilot bearing. I have another customer that lives here in socal that did the tip to manual swap on her B5.5 Passat 1.8t. She too used the same bearing and also went with a CM clutch/flywheel kit.
