brake hoses and calipers questions
Hello fellow users, I ran a search but didn't find anything specific to the B5...
The previous owner of my A4 put stainless steel hoses (and lines) throughout the car. My local mechanic claims that they need to be replaced every two years - which sounds like a load of sh*t - but since the stainless braiding is fraying on the passenger side I believed him. He recommends I go back to regular stock hoses, which will last longer and not make much difference in brake feel.
The previous owner (brother -in - law) claims that they are lifetime hoses unless damaged by chaffing, etc...
Who do I believe??? Anyone have any experience with this? ECSTuning has both and the stainless are considerably more costly than the stock.
Also, I have a torn boot in my rear caliper, passenger side, can this be rebuilt/ repaired and what am i looking to buy to do this?
Any comments appreciated,
Joe

Brake flush is recommended every 2 years. Those stainless steel lines shouldnt have to be replaced, but if it got damaged for whatever reason, then replace it. I'd personally keep it as stainless steel. Rubber hoses crack...
