Brake Rotors
I'm new here so hello to all...
I have a 99 A4 (B5) 1.8T and am debating on replacing my rotors...
Anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to spend the money for like Brembo slotted or drilled. Should I just stick with plain surface? Where to order from? Cheapest? Any help would be appr.
Thanks

Do a search for "A8 brake upgrade" using the search feature up above, and you'll find several threads related to it. I got it back in February and would do it immediately if I bought another A4. It's all the stopping power a street-driven A4 needs. You can get it from www.ecstuning.com or www.purems.com - both have good prices, and one may be better than the other, depending on how you spec the kit. It allows you to use A8 rotors (about an inch larger diameter than OEM A4 rotors) on your car, using the A4 calipers. I paid $445 or so including shipping, and ordered the kit, upgraded with drilled and slotted rotors, plus Hawk ceramic street pads. It's a fantastic upgrade for the price. You can get the rotor kit as cheap as $265 or so, which gives you blank rotors, or you can step the price up for slotted or drilled/slotted. Make sure you replace your pads at the same time - Hawk, EBC, and others are all good upgraded street-use pads. Get the kit though - you WILL love it.
Just the fronts. Your rear brakes only do a small percentage of the work in stopping the car (basically they keep the back of the car in check while the fronts stop the car largely themselves). You could upgrade the rear, but honestly a good set of rear pads is all you need functionally, if your car isn't on the track. I got the drilled/slotted rotors, but you can also specify just slotted or blank. These are mine:

Aesthetically they're nice too - they fill out a set of 18" wheels pretty well. OEM brakes in bigger wheels look kind of weird
The kit maintains stock A4 calipers, which is how the cost is kept down, so that's a nice benefit as well. The OEM calipers are capable enough on the street that you don't need to upsize them.

I'm planning on getting Zimmermann plain rotors front and back. Also PBR ceramic pads on front and back. I really need it all around because the current ones are still stock and aren't looking too good. I also found a great website where i order most of my parts. No shipping fees or tax.

<<< so as you can see I did the Zimmermann plains front and back with the ceramic pads. When I took off the stock rotors they had blistered on the back side! What a difference...
