Default break ware sensor.....

So I take off for work this morning and a couple minutes into the ride my break pad sensor pops up on the screen. I jump on the highway figuring I had at least a bit of time before having to change them out.....20 minutes later I'm pulling into a drive through and come GRINDING to a stop!!

My rotor is now raped....i'm surprized it didn't fuze itself together by getting so hot.

So whats up with the pad sensors? Shouldn't there be a bit more lead time to this happening.

...now where's that DIY for breaks??

As far as I'm aware, the sensor is basically just a fluid level sensor. It also would have to do with where the pads built in wear indicator is
