Default California Catalytic Converter Replacement

My 1999 1.8T Quattro needs the catalytic converter replaced.

I see a lot of Direct Fit OE replacements for 49-state vehicles but not for California. Presumably I will have to buy one from the Audi Dealer which I'm hoping to avoid.

Has anyone ever used a 49-state cat on their California model successfully? As in, it will pass a smog test and will also correct the Check Engine Light.

Or, what are some good solutions/workarounds?

Thanks in advance

Techtonics HFC is good as well, not sure about the price though, should be close to the Labree. you can check it out at techtonicstuning.com

Labree high flow cat. It has a 3.0" in and a 2.5" out. It can be bolted to the stock turbo and down pipe with OEM gaskets and O2 sensors. Just installed mine, it's a very nice piece, well made. Labree's customer service is exceptional as well. And it's only $250 + shipping.
