So I was looking under my car and found this green wire with a yellow stripe on it and it inside some black tubing. the only problem is the black tubing is melted and the wire is starting to get destroyed. I snapped some crappy pics so maybe someone could help.

This is the damage:



Its plugged into this green and purple connector thing located on the passenger side of the car:



It then runs up underneath the bumper to the drivers side of the car where it connects to another purple and green plug:


Any help would be appreciated.

Im sure someone will know for sure but i always thought it was for the coolant fan.. Id just unplug it and see what happened if it were me.

So in theory if this wire were damaged my ABS wouldn't function properly?

yep but to confuse things a little more, your first picture shows a damaged wire above the plug connector and second shows only the connector so which one are you talking about, and the ABS CEL would be on if it were that wire and probably wouldn't function at all

been trying to edit that all morning

in the first pic it looks like its been rubbing on your a/c belt enough to get thru the plastic sheathing, just wrap it up in some electrical tape and zip tie it out of the way of any belts or fans

Thanks techbod. I was starting to doubt that it was related to the ABS because the ABS light wasn't coming on. And ghost, I just taped it up this morning and I've been searching around my house for a zip tie. Thanks for all the help guys.
