cant start the car after replacing the turbo!! Help

Unhappy cant start the car after replacing the turbo!! Help

Hello everyone after replacing the turbo in my 01 audi a4 1.8 i couldnt run the car and white smoke was coming under the turbo, i have any idea of what could be wrong. the car keeps turning off is like it cant stay running, by the way replacing the turbo was a bitch.

You may have an air leak somewhere, therefore I suggest performing a "boost leak test" to see if you can find one (or more) air leaks.

If the smoke is coming off the turbo, this may be normal. When swapping turbos its common to get lots of crud/grease/oil/whatever onto the new turbo, which will burn off over a few driving cycles as the turbo gets very hot.

yes, you are right i took the maf off and the car runs now but if i put it it goes off again and i got low rpms and low boost. cant find any leak tho

I had that issue- turns out the MAF was bad. Picked one up at the local auto part store and swapped it in 5 minutes.

yes mine was too, everytime i plug the maf the car shuts off but as i replaced runs perfect, and i fixed the leaks its all good now.
