Default car shuts off when coming to a stop

I have a 1996 2.8 fwd... Car drives fine during acceleration and coasting while in gear, but as soon as I take it out of gear and come to a stop, the car stalls out unless I feather the gas pedal.... Has anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone know what MIGHT be causing this? It just started a few minutes ago... And I replaced my fuel filter last night also

Another thing, it only dies out after I drive it and come to a stop, but when I first start the car and it idles its fine, I thought maybe it had to do with me giving it gas, so I gave it about 5k rpms and it went back to idle with out any problems... So I'm lost, if u have any ideas lemme know thanks

scan you car for codes. it could be your MAF. did you put your fuel filter on correctly? i believe it's a one way valve you can force stuff the opposite way with enough pressure

Check for codes.

However, this is often a symptom of a dirty butterfly valve at the intake.
Try some cleaner (not carb cleaner) and gently scrub with a tooth brush to remove built up crud and carbon.
