What the hell happened? I was driving home from work and the car died on me while driving! Could it be a defective relay that I got or maybe there is something causing the relay to blow? Luckily I was able to coast into a Denny's parking lot. I have a warranty on the relay, so I'm getting a ride to pick it up at the autoparts store tomorrow since I can't get the car started again.

It's not the relay. I guess get a new pump and filter?

It was the fuel pump incase anyone was wondering. I changed the fuel filter too and to my surprise, it wasn't really clogged very much and it looks like it had never been changed with a whopping 214,000 mi. on the odo. What seems strange to me is that the relay stopped working a day before the pump went out.

Good to know, thanks for the update.

I wonder if the fuel pump starting drawing extra current (still within the limit of the fuel pump fuse) and caused the relay to fail. In any case, glad you got it sorted out!

Thanks. Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if it would be better to put a fuse with a lower amp rating so the fuse would go before the relay would since the relay isn't cheap.

Did you do all the work yourself? My car is doing the same thing. Crank Crank Crank.....takes FOREVER to start. Once its started, it runs and idles just fine. I have been noticing a weird sound coming from the back of the car upon startup, kinda like a radio antenna going up. Wonder if my fuel pump is faulty. I CAN still hear it prime tho...
