Cause of death?
I got my new K04 finished yesterday and I pressure test the system today. To be safe, I double checked my (already new) N75 valve and my waste-gate diaphragm. I fixed a few boost leaks I found, then everything checked out great.
While I was test driving it, I noticed that my boost would super spike (to 30+psi) and the engine would naturally rev way up (with no actual boost going to the engine).
I took it home, checked everything out. Everything seemed fine.
I took my son for a test run, to show him the problem, but there wasn't one. It went away and was running exactly as it should, so I figured it would be a good break in/test run to go pick up my nephew from the other side of town. ......less than half way there it started back up again. I was able to feather the throttle well enough to stay in the power band, right at 20 psi.
When I got off of my sister's exit, there is a 90* right turn. I made the turn w/o thinking about babying the gas and I gave it the gas I normally would and the pressure spiked past my gauge (which caps out at 30 psi). That's when I heard it.....
I don't know if it was a rod or what, but I broke something in the bottom end so bad that it blew a huge hole in the side of my oil pan as it flew out.
I know the waste-gate was good - as well as the actuator. I know the N75 valve was good and I put the (known good) stock DV back in the car, to make sure I could rule out any issue I've been having with my billet DV.
Can you think of anything that would cause that weird spiking that killed the car?
Thanks

The over boosting your describing is sounding like a stage 3 a4 b5 without the correct tune for it. The reason I say this is I have my car which has built engine and stage 3 f21 but still running k03 tune. When I first had everything installed on my car and test drove it, it would spike 30 psi + so I told the mechanic to hook up the turbo to wastegate pressure and boost didnt budge past 7psi.
Either this has happened or somehow your boost was not controlled as it should have been letting it spike way past what it should have ever reached.
All in all its not a good feeling what has happened, believe me I been through it :/
