Default Changing timing belt question

I was talking to my buddy and he said he changed a A4 timing belt without taking off the front bumper etc etc is that possible? Maybe 2002 and up?

It's probably doable, but much easier to move the front end into the service position to do it. I couldn't have changed my alternator any other way. There isn't a lot of room to put a belt on.

Possible? Probably. But why would you? You'd add a good two hours to the job doing it that way....

If it's possible.

He might be able to change the timing belt, but I bet he didn't change the tensioner, roller, or water pump.

The next time I have the front end off, i'll be upgrading pulley's, timing job, and putting a sweet RS4 bumper on the front.

Taking the front end off took 30 min, the alternator about an hour, only because I have big hands and it's a tight fit, and then another 30 min to slap it all back together, fill it with fresh coolant and fire it up.

Youtube, google and my haynes saved me money again. The first time was a clutch. It's like saying I could change the clutch without taking the axles off, the exhaust down, and unbolting the trans mounts. I can also see why the stealership charges thousands to do a clutch job. PITA, so why make it any harder than it has to be?
