Water can get to the cabin not only thru the sunroof, but also thru the firewall. Not sure if the same applies to A4, I have '00 A6). Water from the windshield drains to the compartment where your battery, wipers and break booster sits. There are two drain there, one under the battery and the other under the break booster. If they get clugged water will have no way to drain, will build up in that compartment and eventually leak to the cabin thru drivers footwell. Keep in mind that under driver's carpet sits central locking module and whole bunch of wires. Could be pretty bad. I got off fairly easy, just whole bunch of cleaning, sucking water and hassle. I had an issue with central locking module, but got lucky to get it back to normall after drying it. I did all the work myself, therfore no claim. What about my lost time, WTF??????

well you have until the last week of July to submit a receipt for repairs, maybe go get a quote? Also they'll fix the sunroof problem for free every 40k miles

According the letter I got, you can take your car to any Audi dealer and they'll clean/replace your sunroof drains as necessary every 40k miles or two years, whichever comes first.

I'm curious as to what changed from 96 to not include them into the lawsuit. Is the 96 drain different, ie better? Why would they change it in 97 if 96 worked fine.

Is this ONLY talking about the drains themselves? My car is missing the gutter-like thing that goes on the back side of the sunroof (as seen on this 2000 S4 in the parking lot at my office). From what I gather, it's talking about ANY part of the drainage system. Is that your take?

I just got my letter...It looks like what they are trying to do is get repairs that were previously done reimbursed from Audi. there is $8,000,000 pooled to pay out claims..get your fair share by submitting repair invoices with the appropriate form that was sent with the letter. You should have also received an update to the maintenance schedule saying to clean the drains every 40k or so... Don't miss out on your piece of the pie if you paid to get this fixed once before.
