i was leaning towards getting a SPEC clutch. i think something like stage 3+ w/ a light weigh fly wheel.

whats the difference between SPEC and Southbend? and w/ southbend what stage would i need for ~380-400hp and ~420-450tq?

Go with a south bend stage 4 or more if you are going for that much power. SPEC is alright from what I hear except for a time when people were having issues from a bad batch or something along those lines. Careful with how light you go on the lwfw unless you don't mind chatter and power delivery that feels more on/off rather than a smooth transition when engaging the clutch.

well if i have stage 4, w/ say...a 12lb fly wheel, am i gunna wanna kill myself? cause its a daily driver. i dont mind that sort of on/off type feel, i just dont want to have the car feel like a track car every day. would i be able to 'creep' at all in traffic? or would it just be like full power or nothing? i can get used to different pedal feels quickly so im not worried about that, but if its all power or no power, that i dont think i would like.

on a side note my friend has a 11lb fly wheel in his GTI and i dont mind it at all when i sit in or drive his car.

12lb will chatter. I wouldn't be able to live with it myself. I think you gotta go with at least a 15lb fw to get minimal chatter. I'm not an expert on the topic though.

cool thanks. i guess im gunna have to look into it a little more. i wish the clutch wasnt such a hard job to do so if i dont like it i dont have to just live w/ it.

this decision is gunna suck haha.

After you r&r the tranny the first time, you could probably do it again in half the time if you had to. Definately not something you'd look forward to though! When I was considering a lwfw most of the informed people recommended that I go with a 15lb for a DD and they knew I didn't want much chatter if any at all.
