Default Clutch Slipping

A new clutch was installed (all OEM, including rear main bearing and flywheel) a year ago.
Today, I verified that once RPM get over 3500, the clutch slips (revs climb fast), most noticeable in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear.

The clutch has only what feels like 1mm of travel before it disengages (was like that from the beginning; no change as far as I can tell).

What could be the cause of the slippage? Surely, the clutch is not worn out already (first one was good for 100k+ miles).

Any advice?

sounds like it was never done...

sounds like it is time to get a stage 3 and DIY...

sorry to hear the sh!tty news...I just got a new clutch 6 months ago...I would take my car back to the guys who did it and have them replace it....I think a good deal would be for you to buy the clutch ad have the shop do the labor for free...

gl!

my clutch is out too.... i have 104k right now so i think it was time regardless!

but what is a good (but inexpensive) clutch kit (including pressure plate) that i can buy???

i would likely DIY but i need to know what to buy first! i like the stock feel, and probably wont ever drop the clutch for any reason ( i dont race or anything) so i dont really need a stage 3 or anything by any means... but i dont want mine to go out after a year (like the orriginal poster's did) so i was toying with the idea of stage 2...

so what im getting at is .... good priced oem replacement (stage 1 or whatever) and a good priced stage 2 so i can compare and decide what to get! any advice or comments would be helpful

could of been a bad install, reused the old throwout bearing, or you could have fluid on the fw. Not really much you can do. I would of gone with a single mass fw and a slightly stronger clutch so it could hold power better.

Of course, you could also have problems driving..... kidding... mostly

Default Hydraulic Clutch Fluid?

I don't have the manual at hand, but is there such a thing as a clutch fluid reservoir that needs to be checked and refilled?

The clutch and brake fluid share a reservoir.

Default Clutch Slippage - low or bad brake fluid? Air?

If brake and clutch share the same fluid, could
- air in the lines
- low fluid
- old/poor condition fluid

explain the behavior (1 year old clutch slipping)?

If there was air in the system it wouldn't cause the clutch to slip. Only thing that will cause slipping is a warn out clutch disk or a pressure plate that has lost too much tension. Just sounds like its time for another clutch.

Southbend clutch kit for those that need one.
