Unhappy Coolant light/ leak problems, yeah...i know...

1998 audi a4 2.8
recently had a timing belt job done along with gasket replacements in both heads. about a year ago. so now, my car is at around 68k miles. and the coolant temp sensor has been turning on usually in the morning when i start the car then goes away when it warms up (I KNOW THAT IS BECAUSE THE COLD AFFECTS THE COOLANT SUCH THAT WHEN IT HEATS UP IT EXPANDS)

eventually, the coolant light would come on even during mid day when it was warm outside. so i checked the coolant level and it looked low. so i topped it off with some overpriced g12 coolant from the dealer.

here's the kicker, so im driving home on the freeway and the coolant light goes off, usually doesnt do that and i wasn't overheating. pulled over and saw fluid "THEN" leaking from under my car. im pretty sure it was coolant considering it was pink, watery, and somewhat thick/ oily. it was coming from around the belly pan area. my concern is this, my buddy told me that i probably overfilled the coolant and that the reservoir has some sort of filter that releases coolant if overfilled. which made sense to me because the coolant came out from under my car only after i had stopped my car after pulling over. i checked and when i pulled up to stop there were no leaks evident prior to me stopping the car. from what i could see. maybe im wrong.

anyone with advice, can u please add an estimate...i just want to let my wallet know in advance how bad it's gonna hurt.
