Default Cost of replacing timing belt

Hey yall,

My A41.8TQM has ~104k miles on it and I'm looking into having the timing belt replaced. I'm curious how much this should cost me. One shop I spoke with said that just to do the timing belt would be $750-$800 and another shop I spoke with said that when they change the timing belt, they normally do the valves too and he estimated it to cost about $1000. Are these prices reasonable? I'm not having the water pump replaced because that was done at ~75k miles.

Thanks!

If your timing belt drives the water pump, you should
place it. Check the related threads below.

Unfortunately, yeah. But you should definitely replace the water pump again and that should be included in those prices.

all depends on the place so shop around. expect between 500-1000. just get the full kit from purems yourself and have them just charge you for labor. you'll save some more money that way.

and stay away from the shop that said you need new valves.
