With my K04 I hold 2 more psi to redline than with the stock air box.
And to deal with the hot air I installed a ram air to get cooler air into the air filter area.



And before someone has some dumbass comment about hydrolocking. GO LOOK UP WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS.
I've driven in the worst wet weather ever and haven't had a problem.

 

The car runs fine and i will build a better heat sheild. Trust me this isnt anything big i spent like 30 bucks on the filter and just hooked it up the MAF it took me like 20 mins. I was more along the lines of a boring night project with me and my freind. I know my Audi **** and i wasnt looking for any gains in HP either cause i know what to expect. But thanks for the comments i am planing to go with a big turbo later but that dosnt really matter cause all my intake stuff would be redone ver well.

 

Dont worry 1.8T owners have been doing it that way for years. There is even a guy that sells a very nice heat shield that fits perfect and blocks nearly all the heat from getting to the filter.
