Default DASH LIGHTS-Brake/ABS

I bought a 1998 A4 "non turbo" model for my daughter....230K on the clock...loads of miles I know but... The motor was recently rebuilt (to what extent I don't know), shifts great, new brakes, rotors, tires...etc.

I hope to get some help from the fine group on this forum for the following things!

Surely this amazing find sounds too good to be true but the car drives pretty nice; with the exception of a accelleration stumble from time to time....which has the feel of dirty fuel injectors but some feedback would be great.

.....and Recently the ABS light comes on with a blinking brake light that I can't locate the source; the trouble is very intermitent so I've been unable to replicate the problem to anyone else.

A little help for this newbie would be great!

May not be a bad ABS module. I broke an ABS sensor recently and it caused the ABS light to come on with a blinking brake light. I got 2 rear ABS sensors on Ebay for $19 each. I know that seems too good to be true but I've had one of them on for about 5k miles now and it's still working great. VAG-COM would tell you for sure what is going on. If it can't communicate with the ABS module, then your module is bad. You can get one rebuilt for about $50-$100. If it's a sensor, it should have a trouble code and tell you which one it is.

the abs sensors just stick in there... if they're too close, too far, metal on them, you'll get the abs and brake lights to come on..

Can someone tell me,where in my rear right, wheel is my wheel sensor wire? So I can pull it out and push it back out again, then pull it out a little, being the sensor should not be pushed in too far in or too far out.

I would love a picture of this wire,so I can spot it on my 01 A4 AWM B5 rear right wheel.

If both lights are solid, it's normally an ABS sensor on one of your Wheels. If you use your VAG it will tell you which one....

I cleared the code last night and it came back, within minutes of driving this morning.

I just had all the rotors and brakes done,so which leads me to believe, that my mechanic pushed the rear wheel sensor "all the way in" and didn't pull it back out, just a little bit.

I read in another thread, that the sensor will throw a code,if its pushed in all the way or not in far enough, has to be just right.

I'm going to drive back down to him, tomorrow for him to take off the wheel and see if its even connected and if it is,see if its in all the way or out far enough.

why in hell did Audi/VW make such a weird sensor wire to act to retarded, when not positioned in a particular way?

The damn wire should work, when it's inserted into the damn connector!

Personally I've never re-positioned them. I've always just replaced them, seated them right, and its worked. It's either bad, or the cable is nicked. If you've found it, looks like a cigarette lighter plug from a car, the wire for the right rear sensor goes up under the right rear seat and then plugs into a module underneath the rear seat.

They can be hard to get out. I would just get a new one and replace it. Also, once the sensor is fixed, the lights on the dash will go out without VAG with turning the car off and then on, however the code will still be logged.
