Dealer or factory option?
Anyone know whether a power passenger seat was available on pre-facelift B5s? My 99 has a manual heated passenger seat with airbag (driver seat is powered), and I'd like to fit a power heated bag seat. Does the body harness have the electrical connectors for a power passenger seat even if the car came with a manual seat on that side? I'm sure I could power it myself but if the connectors are there already it'd be a much easier swap. Anyone know? TIA...
I don't know that I've ever seen a B5 w/ a powered front passenger seat... I know that the S4's have 'em, but IIRC the seats aren't the same. I wonder if there's such a thing as a kit to convert a manual seat to powered? Seems like a lot more work than just swapping the seat though :-\
It was at least optional on some (Hiwords has them in his 01.5).I'm wondering if they were available on pre-facelift cars. If they were at all then it would make sense that all the cars would have the connectors - it's financially stupid for Audi to absorb the cost of two different harnesses.
The S4 seats are different and came in dual power starting in 2000. As for retrofitting power to a manual seat, nope - you'd have to tear it apart to fit the motors and gear rack assemblies and run the wiring. A seat swap is feasible but conversion is not.

That makes sense, if it was an option the connectors are probably tucked under the floor someplace. Lemme do some lookin around and see if i can get a full list of available options for the pre-facelift B5
