engine swap question
I would assume you're seeing smoke out the tailpipe with that kind of loss due to burning.
If there's no smoke, look for a leak. It's a lot cheaper and easier to fix what you have. Swaps are huge projects, especially if it's you're first time. Bolting up isn't the issue... it's the ECU, harness, clutch setup, and immobilizer that are a PITA to work with when swapping.
But if you want a recommended swap, upgrade to a newer 3.0 V6 for an easy setup.
