Default Engine Temp and Relay clicking

Ive got a 2001 a4 1.8t all stock with the sport suspension. My problem is I hear a clicking that sounds like a relay coming from the dash then my engine temp drops to zero. This usually happens after driving for only about a minute. Could this just be a faulty relay? what do you guys think? Ive also got a po171 code which im pretty sure is just either a faulty or dirty o2 sensor and not the maf. Im not sure if the 2 could in any possible way be related im just telling you everything i can.

Also today was the first really cold day here in alabama and i put the temp up to 78 but it was pumping out cold air on auto. Also i dont know if this would be related either.

Default Hmm..

It seems that i have the same problem. Hopefully it isn't too much of a hassle to get fixed.
