Default Exhaust Redo on the Cheap

I'm thinking of getting rid of a muffler on my 1996 A4 2.8 Quattro.

I'm not looking for big performance gains, and I don't want to dump money into an exhaust. But I have pipe and I can weld, and i was looking underneath it, and was thinking.... I'd like a little more grumble, low pitch if I can do it... And I have a bunch of big glass packs sitting around...

After the 2 cats, it comes together, then there is what looks like a resonator, then the muffler at the back. I was thinking of taking one of them out and running straight tubing through that part. Or, putting a big old glass pack (have one that's probably 3") in place of one of the two.

I don't want that big 3" pipe out the back looking getto, so I'd try to hide it, and it would probably only fit where the forward muffler is.

Or maybe just take both out, put the glass pack where the forward one is, and run straight out? But that might be to loud.

Which would be the best one to remove to get a little louder, deeper sound? Any ideas at all?

remove the stock piping and the resonator and gut out the second muffler
that should make it loud...

I'm not looking for "loud." I'm looking for a nice deep rumble. It doesn't have to be loud. But if I can make it a little louder and really deep sounding, that's perfect.

well just keep the stock piping and gut out either the resonator or muffler....

my bro did this to his truck and its definatly got a different exhaust note but not too loud...
