Got in a fender bender a week or so ago, havent had time to get an estimate (have $1000 deductible anyway and dont have that much cash so Im screwed regardless...). I hit someone and it messed up my front bumper and drivers side fender as well as turn signal assembly. I have found some discrepancy with pricing...Shokan wanted to charge me ~600 for the bumper that needed 2 hours prep before painting, yet I can get a cheapo bumper on ebay for 200 (obviously lower quality). I just need the bumper cover, the valance is fine. I have student loan refunds coming soon, so I think thats what I am going to use to pay for repairs if I can. I figure I can do the bumper myself but I am thinking the fender will be harder.

Also, which is more serious, when I turn right there is a noise that sounds like a fan maybe slowing down or some sort of plastic on plastic grinding. It is really hard to determine what it is, I have had friends listen with the hood popped to try to find it. The sounds varies in intensity. This noise really worries me, it is only when I turn right. At first I thought it was a suspension issue (and it still may be) but now I think it is with the engine somehow. Any thoughts?

shokan wants 600? daym. there's ppl parting out cars in the classifieds. also check out the classifieds on audizine and vwvortex. most ppl will probably part them out for like 300 or so but shipping will kill you unless you can pick it up. also check out car-parts.com, they might have a usual route that goe to your area.

 

in regards to the noise pull the front wheels off and see if theres anything loose/rubbing on the wheels. one possibility is a fender liner (plastic) might have come loose and is rubbing on the tire. just get in there and look around.
