Default flashing rear fog switch

Anyone had the rear fog switch flash red on their b5...i have a 96 a4 and normally when the rear fog is on the light is yellow but for some reason mine is flashing red. It never stops flashing even when the car is locked.

Not to sound stupid but I think you hit the hazard button. It's the only one with a red indicator, the only one that blinks, and the only one that works when the car is off.

The rear fog button is also the red indicator for the alarm being armed on your car.

There may be a loose connection or the switch is bad causing the alarm light to flash regardless.

You can find a used rear fog button out of a part out for cheap.

If your alarm is going off randomly AND the light is blinking while driving.... sounds like you might have a short somewhere in the alarm itself. Have you tried checking with VAGcom to see if there are any codes?

no i haven't checked vag-com mainly because i don't have access to the the program and the closest dealer is an hour an a half away i own one of maybe 10 audi's in my area so not alot of people to work on them. Now the light doesnt flash anymore it just stays on solid red......

Yea, you must have something wrong with your alarm. Is it still acting up? Does your keyless entry work still?

It is probably worth the drive to get it checked.
