^ Hmm..

I'll be expanding my search to NC then. I called all around WMASS and no one would do it, or it was always $400+. Thanks for the input

Default flex pipe

When buying a replacement do you need a 2.25" flex pipe or will a 2" work best for a 2" pipe on a 2.8 A6 1999

I'm looking at the same thing now. My car is a '98 2.8 with 150k miles on it and I think the left side flex pipe has a hole in it. The engine never revved (or, is it "reved"?) so freely. I love it, but it is loud and probably won't pass inspection. I'm looking for a muffler shop that will cut it out and weld in a new one reasonably.

I'm in the Philadelphia area and hope someone will have a recommendation. Thanks.

harder to find a shop that will do it because the flex pie is part of the cat and more mainstream shops wont do it with "fear" of ruining the cat. cut the cat and flex out and run straight pipe to the res

Jon,

That is a very appealing fix. My car is emissions exempt. Will elimination of the cat cause the check engine light to come on?

Thanks.
