Quote: By the way, I installed a ecs ra4 clutch because I thought mine was slipping. After 800 miles (should have broken in by now) it still had rapid slipping when I really get on it. I was told this could be caused by a clogged or just restrictive cat, is this true or is there something wrong with my clutch?
Clogged cat causing a slipping clutch? Who told you that?

What makes you say the clutch is slipping?

The way I understood it is it didn't cause the clutch to slip, but it will feel like it is because the exhaust has is getting stuck in the cylinders and somehow causing bumping....

If I am driving and accelerating fast to like 4k rpm and after that I hit it, it just rapidly bumbs like really fast. I stop accelerating or shift at that point (obviously)

That doesn't sound anything like a slipping clutch.

I don't mean to be dense, but can you explain that bit a little more? It sounds more to me like the motor is bogging down after shifting rather than a slipping clutch.

A slipping clutch would be more when you accelerate, the RPM's go up but your speedo doesn't. Often accompanied by a burnt french fry kind of smell. Don't hassle me about the burnt french fry thing, that's what I think it smells like

Best way I've found to test your clutch is to get on a straight, flat road someplace about 30mph. Slide it into 4th or 5th gear and put your foot to the wood. You should build boost very slowly, bog down a little bit, and go no place. If you do this, and you see the RPM's climb rapidly without any significant acceleration, (and it smells like fries) your clutch is slipping.

If possible, could you get a video of what you're describing?

I'll try to get a video, basically the rpms don't go anywhere when I stomp it. Say I'm accelerating in 3rd or 4th gear, it will do fine and accelerate fast until around 4.5k rpm then the car starts bumping until I let off, 1st and 2nd don't have the problem.

5th is the worst, if I'm going 65 mph (around 2900 rpm) and I hit it, the boost guage hits 15psi then the car and the boost guage needle start shaking. It's hard to explain but the jist is when the boost goes above/around 10 psi the car shakes

Ahhhhhh I get it. Bumping=bucking/stuttering?

Yeah that all sounds normal to me. Definitely not your clutch slipping. That's the same problem we all have, which is a 4000lb car with a 150hp motor lol. The lack of power could be a clogged cat, that's hard to say without looking at it. In any event, a HFC or test pipe will give you more usable torque in the RPM range you're referring to.

As for a frankenturbo tune, check out United Motorsports. I've heard good results from people using them. I plan on running Motoza, but it won't run on your ECU.
