I bought a brand new front bumper for my 1999 B5 Audi A4, although the supplier confirmed the replacement bumper would be the correct model (confirmed with my Vehicle Registration). However, doesnt fit, my old bumper has like a line as part of the trim in the middle of the bumper and also has fittings for my fog lights? I remember speaking to someone before I purchased the bumper told me to make sure I get the bumper with the line across the middle as it mounts to the car body at a different place than the standard B5 front bumper...

 

If you have fog lights on your stock bumper you have a face lift 99.5 car, the older cars dont have fog lights on the bumper they have them in the head lights.

no the b6 was 2002. 99.5 is when they changed the look of the a4 even more and put the fog lights at the bottom of the front bumper instead of in the headlight and some other things

 

In Europe they release the B6 earlier in 2001
The European bumper doesn't stick out as much as NA one due to different crash legislation (no 5mph bumpers)
The RS4 front bumper is a diffrent width, other then that they should be the same.
How did you attach it to the rebar?

 

Here is a pic of the damaged one Im trying to replace, notice the line running through the middle of the bumper? I can't find this type anywhere Mount brackets are in a different place than the standard A$ bumper...

That is the same of all the pics and UK A4 I have seen. The north american bumpers dont have that crease, and that would not fit correctly. Did you get it from a dealer, or a bulk parts place?

 

i belive there is a difference between pre facelift, and post facelift euro spec bumpers, i cant remember which one had the crease

 

Thanks for the replys guys, learnt a little through an audi mech. The crease was introduced to the face lift models of the B5 in europe. I bought my bumper from a huge trader called euro car parts. Item description for bumper said 95-01... The creased bumper is a completely different fitting.
