It sounds like the wires to cylinders 1 - 4 are disconnected.
Does it still run?

it means the circuit is open. bad ground, disconnected, or broken wire. i would guess its not running if none of the injectors are working.

everything seems to run fine. The light came off the next day after I got the codes from autozone. Just a fluke?

Intermittent open.. prolly dirty connectors or a wire going bad.

I realize this thread is old, but this same exact thing happened to me on two days ago.

When I started the car to leave for work, I noticed that the engine cranked 2-3 times more than it normally does before it started.

Once started, it ran fine, but the CEL was on. Confused, I turned the car off, then started it back up. That time, it started with the normal 3-4 cranks of the engine.

It ran fine all the way to work (40 minute drive) and all the way home that afternoon. Had the codes scanned at Advance Auto...got the same thing as the OP. They cleared the CEL for me and it has not happened again.

However, yesterday while sitting at a stop light, the engine acted like it was going to die for about 2 seconds, then leveled back out. CEL never came on though.

Anybody figure out what causes P1237-40?...or better yet, how to fix it??

Its what they said b4 causes it. The stop light might not even be related!

Is it anything to do with the Fuel Pump Relay?

Could be.When Mine was stuttering at lights and not giving codes it was a vac leak and a MAF

Yeah, I put a MAF sensor in mine back in April of this year. Then just four weeks ago, the car started stuttering and being REALLY sluggish again. I swapped out the MAF under warranty. So, I just put a brand new (remanned) MAF in it 4 weeks ago.

If it was a vacuum leak, would the stuttering be present the majority of the time?
