Small turbo plus high rpm's = loss of boost... the engine is just like a huge vacuum. The higher the RPM the harder it sux. At low RPM's the small turbo can build high boost but at higher RPM's the turbo is trying its hardest to push more air in but can't keep up as well w/ the vacuum of the engine. This is pretty much exactly what Mike just said but hopefully a little easer to understand.

Thank you, but as I said people have different opinions and that's why I'm confused!

How many of those people have a fully built engine like Mike@dth? He knows what he's talking about. Him and Cincy are 2 of the most knowledgeable people on here. Among a few others but they seem to show there faces the most lol. I don't doubt that your turbo might drop a little lower then others but by how much? Also it's winter.. so you lose a little psi from colder temps I believe.

It's done it since I have had the chip doesn't matter the temp outside! So what should I do? The car idles well and the vacuum is perfect. I'm thinking about doing a boost leak test

yeah boost leak test couldn't hurt. if nothing else it'll rule that out as a possible cause, but i feel like the other guys are right and the lil turbo that could, can't lol.

I did a little pokin' around and found a DIY boost leak tester. I dunno if its worth a sh*t because i've never had a turbo and therefor never had the need for one of these thingies. hope this helps though, good luck!

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ICtester.html <- found this one on a EVO forum, looks easier but i dunno if its evo-specific
http://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1659806.phtml <- found this one on audiworld

edit: i take that back, i just looked over the DIYs again and the one on audiworld looks easier lol. disregard the first link and i apologize for lurking on an evo thread in the first place

Thank you! Can I just do it by taking the intercooler pipe off the throttle body and pressurize it from there? It's hard to get my turbo inlet off

Yes. If you do it at at the maf hose you have to plug the pancake valve so that you dont pressurize the crank case.
