HAHA 350 small block in B5 A4
lol no **** huh
well obv the stock ecu would not be running a 350... a carburated crater wouldnt be too bad, but if hes goin as far as he would have to, then running a new wiring harness to a chevy ecu or sem wouldnt be the end of the world. Im tellin you tho, you have the complete wrong shell for this job and he will kick himself for takin it on.

wow i had this exact idea a while back.. i looked into it. and believe it or not the small block actually bolts up to the a4's transmission with a 1" adapter plate. i posted a thread like this on AZ a while back and i just got flamed for it. but i thought it was a good idea.. 1 person on there was helpfull enough to say that since everything in our cars are bosch we can use most of everything.
Theres another thing called stand alone engine management that will absolutely love the new engine... You can leave the stock ECU in place to handle AC and your gauges (at least most of them). Not to mention though that a 350 is usually carburated so the car wont even need to run the engine the engine pretty much handles everything itself.

I'm assuming your C5 wasnt even chipped? 250hp/tq isn't powerful at all, just feels that way if you're coming from a slow car. A Stage III rips so much more.
I don't know if it was chipped but honestly it might have been. The thing ripped like no other
haha sorry didnt read your post...
I thought I'd read you couldn't do that in these if you wanted to keep AC. Our climate control system and all you know?
