Default Hello and my first question

Alright, First off, Hello. New to the forum and i've spent the past 3 days reading through a bunch of posts learning as much as I can about these cars. Just picked up a '99 White with tan interior 1.8t Quattro w/ Tiptronic. The car has 125k on it, but has already had the timing belt replaced (around 100k as far as I can tell on the service records).

Here is my question, the power door locks on the car do not work. I can manually press the locks down, then lock the driver's side door with the key, and the little "security horn" will honk, but I still have to manually push down the locks on the other 3 doors.

When i'm sitting in the car, and press the unlock on the driver's door, the interior lights will come on, like it is wanting to work, but non of the locks work.

I have checked all of the fuses in the fuse box behind the panel on the driver's side in the dash.

Hopefully I have described the issue as well as I can, and someone can help me out. And again, Hello!

there is a locking pump locared on the passenger side of your trunk...you have to remove the side panel to get to it...its kinda a pita...

sounds like yours is burnt out...to replace it is very easy...

I am not sure what they cost...but prolly a $200 deal from the stealership...or you could prolly pick one up from somebody partingout their car foe cheap...

another option would be a junkyard...

grats on the new ride, welcome to the fam!

Thanks, I'll try to see if I can get one off someone parting one out. I absolutely love this car, and cannot figure why I haven't had one sooner.

Next on my list will be all weather floormats (I know not a "mod" but still), and the AWE boost gauge, unless I can find another boost gauge with a real nice clean fit and finish.

Just trying to get all of the bugs worked out of the car right now.

If someone hasnt shown you already, or you haven't figured it out yet, the noobie guide in this place is sick. Alot of questions are answered there. Welcome aboard, and glad to have a new audi fanatic here with us! The biggest pet peeve of people here i'd say is that they don't search before asking questions. Always use the search tool =) Read up as much as you can, and then just get some hands on experience. Glad to have ya here!

Do the keys have to be recoded or anything special done if I replace the central locking pump?
