Exclamation HELP-boost and motor issues!

I am a new member here, so in advance it's nice to meet you guys and thanks for helping me out. I recently bought a high mileage 2001 a4 quattro 5-speed, it is completely 100% stock. So far I have come across two problems the first of which is when you have the car in first and are getting yourself going if you give it any more gas anywhere throughout the gear than you did when first starting the car starts to jerk. This only seems to happen in first, the first time i drove it I assumed it must be the clutch but I couldn't get it to slip at all. So my guess is I have a broken motor mount, I intend to look when I have the time but until then I would love some thought as to what you guys believe it is. Now for the second thing which isn't really all too big of a problem but bugs me, when the car is cold (just warming up) the car will spool and pull pretty good but when it's warm i really don't get nearly as much power it seems. Sometimes i get a little but it's not like when it's cold. So I'm wondering if that's due to the piping heating and expanding exposing cracks and im losing boost? Or maybe the turbo? But it doesn't make any funny noises, smoke, or anything? Or is this all fairly normal? It does come in little waves as it will pull hard sometimes through the ride and a minute later it doesn't wanna go anywhere. Either way it drives and doesn't make any funny noises. I would just like it if it pulled every time through every gear. Thanks again for the help it's much appreciated!

Sam

your first issue is kind of hard to understand because you describe it as a bucking problem then take it to a mount issue....might want to find someone up in ma to help with that

as for the other issue, this is just a guess but what you describe sound about like what i had with a boost leak.... when cold and tight the vac line would hold air/boost.... after warm the crack split tear would show its ugly head

i would recommend check all vac hoses under the hood and replace them just to be safe.... also check your mounts but like i said find someone in mass to help you if you are not mechanically inclined

Hey thanks for the help, what would be the best way to go about checking for vacuum leaks? I don't wanna just throw water over it and hope I don't miss and bubbles. As for the motor mounts issue, it's somewhat like bucking but instead it still goes it just feels like the motor is rocking back and forth. It's not backing off in any way. But what's strange is it is only in first gear. Thanks again for all the help!

it is cheap to buy vac lines.... just replace them

as for mounts... it could be motor, tranny or snub.... but it might be something else
