Ok guys, Ive gotten alot of useful advice from this website, unfortuneately I just couldnt find anymore readable answers w/o asking some questions.. So I joined. I have a 99.5 A4 1.8t w/ 5spd. Auto-stick. TCM got wet... I was getting a p1661code.. Dries the tcm and the floor,carpet, etc.. and then i was getting a p1734 code.. let me just mention at my own embarrasment, I am using an odbII reader not a vag. I have just replaced the tcm and I am only getting 1,2,3 gear. No check eng. lights.. 4th and 5th gear are for the most part un responsive, it will shift into them, but i get no power whatsoever.. please help!

 

Do I have to have the TCM set w/ a vag-com? Is this limp mode? These are some of my questions..

 

might need to set the ecm codes to accept the new tcm. happened to me when i put a new ecm in mine...
