I can haz teh turboz?!
Well, my next project presented itself last night. It rained yesterday for the first time in a while, so I obviously had my headlights and wipers on. I wanted to check to see if my headlight washers were still workin, so I squeezed the washer pump for a few seconds and the low washer fluid light comes on. No big deal, didn't think anything of it. So i stop at 7 eleven, pick up a gallon of fluid, dump it in (the whole gallon, which i thought was odd), it starts gushing out all over the place, and before i get out of the parking lot the low fluid light comes back on. So this weekend I get to tear into it and see if its a broken line, the headlight washer pump, or the windshield washer pump. Which brings me to my question, and the point of this post: On an avant the windshield washer pump does double duty for the back window, right? Also, if it does turn out to be a cracked pump (which i think is more than likely at this point) does it make sense to buy another shitty plastic pump and just wait for that one to crack too? Any of you guys do a DIY fix instead of replacing the pump? How'd it hold up?
Well I just replaced the rear view mirror lol
Other than that I've just been catching up on maintenance stuff. My windshield washer fluid has been leaking into the 4th dimension, still haven't figured out from where. Also need to replace my coolant temp sensor. I'm going to order a 710n, Stern snub mount and a coupla turbo hoses sometime in the next month or so, and change all that stuff when I do my timing belt early next year.

I did look around for new auto-dimming mirrors, but the junk yards I called had none and I didn't want to wait any longer than I absolutely had to, in case the goo starts leaking out. That stuff eats plastic
I left the mount and wiring in place for the auto-dimming mirror, so if i come across one in the future I can just put it back on.
In other news, I just crawled out from under my car. Learned several things while I was under there (and in the engine bay.)
1. I'm dumb and didn't torque the oil pan drain plug after my last oil change. I just guessed because I was in a hurry. It's been leaking. I suck.
2. Discovered that my washer fluid is in fact leaking from the pump, but couldn't yank it out because I ran out of day light while removing one of the 1,234,508 screws that hold the inner fender liner on. Gonna try to pull that out and either fix it or order a replacement this weekend.
3. I have a green coolant temp sensor, which I will also be ordering one of this weekend.
i never torque the drain plug at all. been doing that on 2 vehicles for the past 3 years and never had a single problem. maybe you just need a new washer.
also who needs an effing fender liner? just something the tire rubs on when you go low. ; )
