I can haz teh turboz?!
CC, mine did the same thing when my MAF was going out. It'd be in limp mode then randomly it go full boost then back to limp. Cleaning the MAF only helped for a day or two before it wanted to act out again, had to replace the whole deal.
Oh and I'd def recommend SpeedTuning for a chip, good bang for your buck.
Grats on the avant, my only regret is not waiting for a 5spd 1.8T avant to come around.

thanks man, i'm really glad i decided to jump on this one when i did
ended up finding the cause of that bank 1 lean code, was an ID10T error
I put a cone filter on about a month ago, and didn't tighten the clamp that was keeping the turbo inlet pipe on the MAF housing. it eventually slipped off and was sucking in un-metered (and unfiltered
) air. took it apart and put it back together two weeks ago and everything has been fine since. Don or Brad, if you've got any facepalm pics handy now would be a good time...

Finally got around to changing my coolant temp sensor this morning, talk about a pain in the ***! I have average sized hands and I felt like I was trying to do heart surgery on a hamster while wearing boxing gloves. Took about 30 minutes and took care of the low temp problem I was having. Changed my oil while i was in there too. Gonna be a good weekend!
