Also, after having a short throw shifter on mine for so long, this thing shifts like a big rig
.
I don't know if it's the difference of transmission codes, or linkage, or what, but I have always noticed that the throw on 00+ transmissions seems to be greater than previous years. It could all be in my head.Originally Posted by CCA4

Yeah I dunno, I had the 01A 5 spd in my sedan, and with the eBay short shifter, the shifts were very short and crisp. Shifts on this thing are crazy long. When its light out tomorrow I'll take a pic of the height of the shifter and a vid of the throw, if I can. Originally Posted by onepoint8tee

I definitely do, but those are tied for #1 on my list. Also gonna keep an eye out for a tuned ECU, or just buy a tune for mine. I've got a K&N cone filter in muh closet that might become part of a DIY intake, and I'm gonna bug Yu about his race springs. As I understand it, springs differ from Quattro to FWD, but not from Avant to sedan, is this true?Originally Posted by aledelic42
do you have any other plans than a short shifter and boost gauge? you should be on the look out for a tuned ecu, I got my giac tuned one for $275 and I got to keep my original ecu. it's a huge difference especially coming from a 12v

i just checked and the part numbers are slightly different. idk what the differences are but i don't think the mounting should be different. spring rate is probably different for the rear end but i don't think by much since the race springs can be used on 1.8 or 2.8 engined cars.
