So, I mailed the court a picture of the reg. sticker on my windshield the next day and it was dropped.
When it comes down to it, if someone is having a bad day, they will often forward their misery to another. Don't give anyone a reason to make it you.

Eh... I dunno about that. I used to go to Porsche school in Jersey. In early 2008, I was pulled over in my X-Type for reportedly going too fast, but he wasn't clocking so he admitted that he couldn't prove it. He asked for my registration and I couldn't find my most up to date card, the one I had in the glovebox was expired (I found the new one stuck in the top of the glovebox hinge later). He took it to his cruiser and came back with a failure to carry reg. ticket. I pointed to the windshield, front driver's side in very plain view which said "SEP 09" on my CT reg. sticker and handed him the up to date reg I found. He shrugged and said I could go to court to contest it.

Dunno what year you have, but on mine there's two switches, one for the front and one for the rear. You can turn the fronts on w/o the rear, but if you flick on the rear, the fronts come on automatically, and niether will come on w/o the headlights.

To get back to what the OP was asking, take pics and bring your manual, but also pull the carpeting back and take pics of the bulb trees and the back of the taillight housings on each side to prove that there's no provision for a bulb on the right side from the factory. You could probably walk out clear with that stuff to show a judge.
