i need some direction!
Im new to the forums and just purchased a 2000 1.8t front wheel drive a4 manual. This is my second b5 but will be the first one I want to modify. I just basically need some direction on which Audi tuning website to buy my gear from. I kind of wanting to stay away from ebay because of bad experiences in the past when tuning my honda.
I am pretty simple and really into oem only type add ons. My plans are just basically dumping the car and getting a knarley bike rack. Maybe some wheels but my current sport wheels should do for now. Here are a couple pics of the car. Any info would help! Thanks in advance!
So which websites do you guys recommend when buying mods?

Hi, welcome to the forum, nice car by the way, for starters, I'd recommend reading the modifying sticky on the B5 forum of this website. You can get a lot of info, including recommendations on mods for your car. Then if you want to know of more websites you can order parts from, I'd recommend you go here.

well we kinda need to know what kind of mods your in to. you want performance mods, visual mods? your kinda like me in the fact you like oem mods. if you want performance, i would start with a k04 turbo. is only one step up from the stock one, but with the optional tuning and add on's (ie injectors, fmic, fpr, exhaust, that sort of thing) i believe you can get around 250-280 chp. and with that setup, it is still pretty reliable as you arent pushing anhything too hard. a stage 3 clutch is obvioulsy in need with that setup as well.
as far as visual mods goes, most people put on an oem (if you can find one) s4 or rs4 body kit (front and rear bumpers and side skirts). a good aftermarket body kit is made by reiger. from there you can choose you own set of rims, but if you want to keep with the oem theme, you could go b5 or b7 rs4 rims. i personally have b5 rs4's. most people will tell you to only go 18" but some do drop on 19" (personally i think 19" is too big and looks terrible). of course your going to want to lower it. since you live in a place without snow you could get away with just lowering springs and shocks which can be had for 500about, or if you want to go coilovers they're gonna run over 1g for a good set, although you could always get a cheaper kind for around 600 (they are called vmaxx and it is debatable whether they are worth it or not. some like, some dislike).
hope this helps.

sweeeet man, thanks for the info. yea i agree on 19's being too big. i think on my b5 17's would be perfect. I really want a set of those rs4 wheels but ill keep my stock sports for now. i just want to get a decent suspension set up. i think your right about the suspension. I probably will just go with spring shock set up. but vmax sounds interesting being so cheap.
As for engine mods go i am debating on that right now. im 50/50 about that. i really like just the reliability of the stock form, but being a tuner of honda for 10 years. i kind of want to give my 1.8t some ***** for better daily driving (getting on the freeway sort of thing) im not into street racing or anything like that anymore.

well you should get in on the group buy of the speedtuning chip. i think we only need one more person. the price is 125$ (normally 250 from them and 500 from other companies0. being so cheap if you got it and didnt like it you could just go back to stock. they claim around 200-210 hp when its all said and done. its not gonna make your car a speed demon by any means, but it will give it a little extra boost (pun inteneded). literally, it raises boost to a hopefull 20 psi from a stock 10. just click on the thread. it should only be a couple underneath this one.

Sweet thanks fellas for helping my noobness out. Im going to get some vmaxx coilovers and calling the company that sells them tommorrow. I guess im more into the looks than performance on the suspension part of the car.
