Default intercooler and fog lamps/headlamps

can someone tell me where the intercooler is supposed to be cause mine doesnt seem to be where i thought it was going to be and as for the fog lamps, previous owner of my car replaced the headlamps and the headlamps now have their own orange fog lights on the outside and the stock lamps don't turn on, these are probably ~96 year lamps and can't take HIDs right?

The intercooler is on the left side (driver side) kinda buried under some stuff. When looking at the engine, look to the right where the intake manifold is, follow the hose that leads up to the manifold, and there it is. At least that's where it is on my car, 99.5 1.8T quattro. As for your headlight issue, I have no idea...

Pull the fender liner out of the front driver wheel well. The IC is just ahead of the wheel. Can you post pics of your headlights with the "fogs" on and off? And the 96-99 headlights are identical and can take HIDs just fine although the beam pattern is less than ideal.

+1 on posting pics, and +2 on the HID thing. You *can* put HID's in the stock reflector housings, but you're just gonna spray light all over the place and **** a bunch of people off in the process.

You will definitely spray light. It's still better visibility than halogens give though. Before I had projectors, I ran HIDs in my reflector lamps for several months and didn't **** anyone off. CCA4 maybe they just don't like you

you coming up this weekend?

I'm still on the fence, if i came up i could pick up that short throw shifter that JC is sellin, and it would be a helluva good time, but I'm workin on a demo for work right now that has to be done by 1 Sept. and doesn't look like its gonna make it
